Happy Holidays

A holiday card design I recently made that is another piece in my animals and beverages series.  A series that I am still strangely obsessed with making art for whenever I have the extra time.....I <3 Coffee & Tea!

I also wanted to show some of my process that goes into one of these designs

I draw the sketch out on tracing paper (easier to move around and work in layers)

next I figure out the pattern background (which might be my favorite part of these paintings) I sketch out by hand what I kinda want, then scan in the drawing and work out the rest of the design in Photoshop making sure everything is even and works as a pattern.

it took a bit on this one to get the right snowflakes and after playing in Photoshop for a while I settled on these,  I tried to keep the bunny theme in as much of the details....even if a bit subtly.

Then I lined em' all up, refined the pattern more and printed out the design.

I line the drawing and snowflake pattern up and begin the transfer process onto the final watercolor paper ready for painting

 For fun I also made a little mini gift tag with the bunny pattern

The FiFi Chronicles Continued

The rest of the FiFi freelance illustrations, each of the images is designed to go with a screenplay synopsis (sort of like a summary) for the The FiFi Chronicles.
    "The stories feature Fifi Parker, a woman in her late-thirties who has "almost" superhuman physical abilities and a wicked dry sense of humor. She makes no apologies for engaging in risky behavior and astutely questions "the status quo." The trilogy has a low-brow sensibility with a nod to lesbian pulp fiction from the mid to late 50's (although visually we're going in a more mod direction versus rockabilly)." author Kristi Frazier.


An awesome opportunity to visually design a character and the chance to paint multiple scenes with that character.  Definitely a lot of work but well worth the fun and experience I got out of it!

Ina in a Circus

The mural is done!!!! 4ft square It took over 160 hours to complete and 6 very intense weekends but it was worth the experience of finishing my first mural.....and it will probably be the only mural I do for a while, I appreciate small paintings on a whole new level now.  Done for the Children's Hospital Colorado mural competition, it was such a great opportunity and I can't wait to see what all the other artists painted!
